Recycle electronics, appliances at Clean Up Day, May 5

Bellevue Clean up Day will be held Saturday, May 5, 2012 at the Bellevue Middle School parking lot. Sponsors are the Bellevue Exchange Club and the Bellevue Chamber of Commerce, Council members Bo Mitchell, Charlie Tygard and Sheri Weiner, as well as Bellevue Beautification Chairs Susan Hufford and Barbara Matheison and Cross Point Community Church. Community service workers in conjunction with Judge Mike Jamison and the Sheriff’s office will clean Bellevue’s major thoroughfares, Red Caboose Park, schools, and will paint over graffiti.

As always, Bellevue residents will be taking advantage of the following services:
- Metro Public Works & Beautification is again providing bins to collect your bulk items for disposables like old appliances, yard furniture, and other items. Hazardous materials will be accepted.

- Shred on the Run will be available to shred your personal documents. This is a great way to help prevent identity theft and dispose of all those unneeded documents you’ve been storing. There is a two box per person shred limit.

- All About Computers will accept computers, printers, televisions and cell phones.

- Nashville Vehicle Inspection Program (VIP, administered by the Metro Public Health department) & SysTech International will be providing on-site services for Mobile Emissions Testing and License Renewal. Emissions test results are good for 90 days so take advantage of this great opportunity.

- Goodwill Industries of Middle Tennessee will collect your usable unwanted items.

- New this year will be Prescription Drop off by the Metro Police Department. In lieu of prescription drugs being deposited in the waste stream, safe disposal will now be available onsite that day. Also, voter registration materials will be available for your convenience.

The event runs from 8 a.m. until noon.

BELL Garden update: pizza oven

Work continues on the BELL Garden at Bellevue Middle School.

Lee Cannon and Jason Reynolds of the Bellevue Exchange Club fired up the new pizza oven at the garden on April 3. The oven must be seasoned before the final coating is applied, and Lee and Jason were happy to take the heat. No date has been set for the oven’s completion.

Willett speaks to Exchange Club

Mike Willett of Red Spirits & Wine was the guest speaker on Tuesday, March 6, at the Bellevue Exchange Club. Mr. Willett spoke about how the new business came to open, as well as a description of its inventory and plans for growth. The Exchange Club thanks Mr. Willett and Red Spirits & Wine for spending time with us, and we welcome this new addition to Bellevue.

Tee’s moves to Kingston Springs

Tee’s Fireside Cafe has moved to Kingston Springs.

The former Bellevue restaurant is now located at 131 Petro Drive, Kingston Springs, TN 37208. Tee’s previously had been located on Highway 70 in Bellevue. Tee’s had served as the Exchange Club’s meeting site until she moved to Kingston Springs.

Tee’s menu includes soups, deli sandwiches, quesadillas, and salads. Go to Tee’s website for more information.

Exchange Club now meets at Hampton Inn

The Bellevue Exchange Club meets weekly on Tuesday at 7 AM at the Bellevue Hampton Inn on Coley Davis Road.

The Bellevue Exchange Club is a civic organization that aims to help make Bellevue a better community. Our programs include community clean-up days, student of the month awards, supporting community athletic fields, and supporting the Exchange Club Family Centers, which work to prevent child abuse.

The meetings are open to the public. Membership dues are $440/year or $110/quarter.

Winners from Reverse Draw announced

The winners from last week’s Reverse Draw are: 1st place, Gates Weaver; 2nd place, John Brittle Jr.; and 3rd place, Sheila Warren.

All proceeds from the Draw benefit the Exchange Club Family Centers in Nashville and Murfreesboro, which work toward the prevention of child abuse.

Tickets are $50, and there are three cash prizes, $5,000, $1,000 and $500, as well as a number of valuable door prizes from local merchants.

A total of 300 tickets are sold each year, so there are good odds of winning either a cash prize or a door prize. The Reverse Draw is sanctioned by the Tennessee Legislature.
